I want to bring awareness to a great cause that rolls around this time of year which is St.Balrick’s. Here is what St.Baldrick’s is all about:
The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long, healthy lives.
You may recognize this cause by all the shaved heads walking around!
That’s right, you fundraise and spread awareness and on the big day you shave off your hair! It is just such a powerful movement. One that I support 100%
“We’re proud of the success we’ve achieved but there’s still a long way to go. In the U.S., more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease — more than AIDS, asthma, cystic fibrosis, congenital anomalies and diabetes combined. And yet, all types of childhood cancers combined receive only 4% of the U.S. federal funding for cancer research.”
I am so blessed and lucky to say that I do not know anyone personally that has suffered personally from childhood cancer or has a child themselves that has gone through this. But, that does not mean that I do not think this is such an important cause and one that has touched my heart profoundly.
I have personally taken part in this great movement for the past two years, and this year my brother and his girlfriend are jumping on the bandwagon!!
So if you know anyone personally raising money for this please support them! Or if you just are looking for a great cause to give your time to, I would recommend you check them out!
Here some pictures from my experiences with St.Baldrick’s. I hope I can show women that a lady can rock a bald head!
This is the before and then after of my first year participating:
And these are some pictures from last March
I hope everyone supports this cause! I hope I can bring some awareness!! See what you can do to help today!!
